The company plays the role of “facilitator” of technology offering healthcare organizations and rehabilitation centres, the opportunity of using equipments whose operation calls for an engineering and bio-medical based approach.

The headquarters are located in Messina where the main research staff is dedicated to the design of robotic solutions and smart materials.

A new ICT department has been recently opened in Pisa for research and market exploitation in the e-Health and assistive technology fields (see the RICHARD and CLEAR projects pages).

Staff and Facilities

Signo Motus is a research intensive SME whose core mission is R&D in bioengineering, robotics, ICT and health domain. It is enrolled in the Registry of the Italian Ministry of University and Research since 2004. A group of around 20 people whose strength lays on a strong team of researchers and engineers with several years experience in the design, development and testing of robotic prototype as well as ICT and Assistive Technologies solutions and devices.


Headquarters, main research facilities and related staff are located in Messina (Sicily). A branch has been recently established in Tuscany Region to facilitate the deployment of innovative services in the health domain.

Signo Motus facilities include: a basic laboratory for electronics, manufacturing of mechanical prototypes, chemical synthesis and testing of electromechanical devices; dedicated software tools and hardware for mechanical 3D modelling, simulation and FEM analysis (Autodesk Inventor being Member of the Autodesk® Developer Network as Research Centre); control software development kits (National Instruments LabView). Consolidated experience with edge technologies and standards such as Java, MySQL, SOA, Linux and HL7 are the basic elements of our ICT solutions.
