A brief occupational therapy program at home improves recovery and delays the deterioration of the disability compared to usual care (Gilbertson, Langhorne et al. 2000). Patients treated at home with an occupational therapy program without admission to hospital after stroke have a reduction in disability and handicap (Logan, Ahern et al. 1997). Although there is efficacy in early occupational therapy intervention, the duration of the benefits is not clear (Logan, Ahern et al. 1997).
