Project Objectives

The main objective of the H-CAD project is the clear definition of a set of exercises to be used as a standard for home in the fields of occupational therapy and neurological rehabilitation of the upper limbs in patients affected by Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The definition of a set of standards has allowed the development of a low-cost user friendly activity desk that can be used by patients at home.
Such home care device allow:

• execution of monitored exercises at home;
• data recording during execution;
• data transmission to a central server for data analysis and patient feedback;
• development of the patient database to evaluate patient recovery;
• development of an interactive database continuously updated that can be consulted via Internet services.

The key feature is therefore the development of a device that can decrease the assistance provided by the care and associated social costs. Such device is equipped with clinical software for the analysis off line of the parameters under investigations.
