OMNIA: Omics and Medicine for New Intelligent Applications
(June 2026 / November 2028)
- Programme: PN RIC 2021-2027 (MUR DD 307 18/03/2025) - Action 1.1.2 - Action 1.1.3b

Abstract
OMNIA-BRIDGE4SOUTH (Action 1.1.2) is a research and innovation project aimed at transforming the healthcare landscape through
the development and industrialization of advanced technologies for the diagnosis, treatment, and
rehabilitation of complex diseases. By integrating nanotechnologies, artificial intelligence (AI), and
digital solutions, OMNIA aims to create a permanent hub of healthcare innovation,
capable of translating scientific findings into scalable and sustainable products and processes. The project
focuses on two clinical areas with high social and healthcare impact: colorectal cancer and
neurodevelopmental disorders, with particular attention to ADHD and autism spectrum disorders. OMNIA
develops non-invasive diagnostic technologies, nanovectors for personalized drug delivery,
Digital Therapeutics (DTx) platforms, and robotic rehabilitation systems. The adoption of
Explainable AI, Federated Learning, and Generative AI models optimizes the
design of nanomaterials, improves clinical prediction, and ensures the protection of
personal data. The solutions will achieve a TRL of between 7 and 8, with clinical validation in
real-world environments and a structured path to certification and market entry. The project fosters the
growth of SMEs by offering regulatory support, prototyping, validation, and
technology transfer services, strengthening Italy's competitive position in the
health technology sector.
OMNIA-INNOVATION4SOUTH (Action 1.1.3b) represents a territorial, thematic, and
methodological extension of what has already been initiated in Tuscany by the coordinator THE scarl. The primary objective is to expand
skills through the full inclusion of all partnership stakeholders in the
innovation processes that will develop through the consolidation of existing physical structures and the
expansion of specific technological platforms, implemented to meet the
need to strengthen the positioning of the research system. The strategic objectives are
the territorial expansion of the Tuscany Health Ecosystem (THE - PNRR) in Southern Italy and the development of an Innovation Hub in the South, dedicated to the promotion of
advanced technologies and services in the health sector. Knowledge-intensive companies
will be involved in the initial co-design phases for the definition of technological needs, the
validation of prototypes, and preclinical testing based on the results of the
activities of Action 1.1.2. You will have access to specialized know-how and exceptional expertise in
the scientific and technological fields, increasing your ability to generate innovative solutions and your
competitiveness in national and international markets.
