Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pisa (IT). Researcher and mechanical designer at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa (IT) and Consorzio Pisa Ricerche (IT). PhD from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne (UK) at “CREST” Centre for Rehabilitation and Engineering Studies. PhD thesis title: “Sternoclavicular kinematics: A new measurement system”. Co-founder and general manager of SM Scienzia Machinale srl, Pisa (IT) and Signo Motus srl, Messina (IT). Mechanical designer of the 5DoF power orthosis for upper limb within the EU TIDE Project “MULOS”. Mechanical designer of the MARCUS Hand: a 2DoF sensitized myoelectric prosthesis (EU TIDE Project “MARCUS”). Scientific responsible of different European projects in the framework of TIDE, ESPRIT, 5th FP, IST, eTen, ICT-PSP, FP7 RoK, H2020 and EDA programmes for the development of robots and robotic components as well as in the assistive technology field. Appointed Professor of Industrial Robotics at the University of Messina Faculty of Engineering from 2004 to 2007. Member of the Scientific Committee of IADIS and of the European COST action TD1006 on rehabilitation robotics. Electronic Engineer
Degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Messina (2008). More than 15 years experience in R&D activities related to automation and system control, electrical and electronic systems design and software development. R&D and D&D Manager of the activities related to the company core business. Company quality manager (Certification ISO 9001:2015). Software designer of Habilis platform (ICT-PSP CLEAR 224985). Main developer of control system and software for assistive technologies (Project IESS - FIT Lg. 46/82 MSE). Technical responsible and designer of electronic and control system for Electro Rheological Fluids (ERFs) based characterization instruments and for innovative ERFs related electro mechanical devices (Project ADHERE - PNRM 1294 Dec 2010). Technical responsible of feasibility study of the ERXOS Project (H2020 - SME-Instrument - PHASE I), dedicated to assess the complete viability of an innovative ERFs based exoskeleton devices to be used for the optimization and easy personalization of the rehabilitation treatment for upper limb.

- VITA NOVA (Programme FAR-FAS 2014 - Tuscany Region) focussed at implementing a customized and adaptive SW App prototype for women in pre-menopausal and menopausal able to increase their awareness about the condition they are experiencing and the consequences of any unhealthy behaviour;
- DI-ASD (Programme POR FESR 2014-2020 - Tuscany Region) for the development of a technological support system for the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD);
- VERSUS (Programme POR FESR 2014-2020 - Tuscany Region) for the development of a modular robotic platform for the robot-assisted rehabilitation of the upper limb in post-stroke patients;
- SMART REHAB (Programme POR FESR 2014-2020 - Sicily Region) for the development of an innovative ERFs based exoskeleton devices to be used during the rehabilitation treatment for lower limb;

Antonino Contino
R&D Team | D&D Team
Electronic Engineer
Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Messina (IT), in 2011 and 2013, respectively. In 2019 he obtained a Ph.D. degree at KU Leuven University (BE), with a thesis focused on the on the modeling of graphene interconnects for beyond CMOS applications. From 2018 to 2020 he worked in the Back-End-Of-Line Process Integration team at IMEC, Leuven (BE), as a process integration engineer, focusing on the integration of scaling boosters in future technology nodes. In 2020 he joined the Signo Motus, Messina (IT), as part of its R&D and D&D teams. Author of 17th international publications, he is experienced in project management, electrical design & simulations, physics-based modeling, control system & SW design and programming.

Simone Scattareggia Marchese

Naval Architect and Marine Engineer
Master’s Degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Trieste (2019). He spent an internship period at the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN), Wageningen (NL), on the topic of hydrodynamic optimization through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques (2019). He holds a PhD degree in Engineering and Chemistry of Materials and Constructions from the University of Messina (2023), with a thesis focused on the numerical and experimental assessment of composite lightweight structures produced by innovative additive manufacturing techniques. He is a member of the R&D and D&D teams at Signo Motus, Messina (IT) since 2020. He deals with modelling, numerical simulations, additive manufacturing, smart materials and robotics.

Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Messina (IT) in 2019. He is currently enrolled in the Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Messina (IT). He is a member of the R&D and D&D teams at Signo Motus since 2019, expert in mechanical design and 3D modelling, structural static and dynamic FEM analysis, additive manufacturing and robotics.
